Best Card Games for Family

I want to know about simple card games that can be played with a regular deck of cards and can involve around 4 to 6 people. Kindly share the rules of these games as well or link me to them for reference. Thanks.

Spoons is a great game that can be played by more than 10 players. It is suited for both adults and children. Check link for rules

Tip 2 - The Memory Game

This is a really fun game for the whole family. Depending on then number of people, you can choose either one deck or two decks of cards (for 6 or more players). Simply shuffle the cards and place them upside down side-by-side. Every player gets to turn two cards in one turn. If the cards are of the same number (1-10, JQK), the player keeps the pair. If not, he puts both back from where he picked them.

This continues till all the pairs are taken off the table. The player with the most pairs in the end wins the game.

Tip 3 - Lie Detector

This is a bluffing game basically and works well for upto 6 people. Everyone is dealt 7 cards facing down and the remaining deck is placed in the middle. The first person to go puts down a single or two cards and names the rank. The next person has to outrank his cards or bluff. If another player believes the player is bluffing, he/she can call in the lie detector and check the cards. If the player was bluffing, he gets to pick up all the cards if not, the challenger picks them up.

In the end, who ever has gotten rid of all his cards wins the game.

Tip 4 - Go Fish!

Great for 2 to 6 players and the objective is to gather 4 cards of the same rank. Check the link below for detailed rules.

Tip 5 - Boom

Boom is a fast game that can be played by a maximum of 12 people. Everyone gets 7 cards, facing down. The remaining deck goes back on the table. The first player lays down a card, facing up. The next player has to match that card by rank or suit. If he doesn't have either, he needs to draw cards from the deck until he does.

After the one round is played, the player who had the highest rank in the stack on the table gets to lead the next round. In the end, the player who gets rid of all his cards and yells Boom wins.

Tip 6 - I Doubt It!

Published:  | Submitted by Terry Thomason | permalink

This is a fun game that can be played between 4 to 6 players with one deck of card. Each player is dealt 7 cards and then one leader (chosen by players) nominates a rank (not suit). Anyone who has that rank (or doesn't) can place one card facing down or pass.

The point of the game is to get rid of all your cards, and you can do so by either having the nominated rank or bluffing. Players can either pass, or challenge, which means they Doubt that the other player has the right rank on the card he/she placed. If the doubter is correct, the bluffer picks up all the cards and the challenger names the new rank. If not, the challenger picks up all the cards and the one doubted gets to name the new rank.
