A majority of the nation's ski schools this season are swooning over the hourglass figure of the sport's newest innovation in downhill equipment, the so-called shaped ski. But are the skis too good to be true? Traditional skis come with relatively straight lines. They are making room for skis with a more curvaceous profile: wide in the tips and tail, and narrow in the waist.
