Tip - Dressing well in high school

What’s the best way for a high schooler to dress stylishly? All my friends wear T-shirts and jeans, and whenever I wear a button-down shirt people ask why I’m dressed up. Also, people my age seem to think only gay guys dress nice. Please help me out.
