First Shave Advice Needed

Shaving isn't as simple as moving the razor around and you should always hold the razor in your dominant hand. This will make sure you have control over it and don't end up cutting your face. Also remember, you have to put pressure but not very much. Just enough to prevent the razor from sliding over the hair.

"You want a smooth glide across your skin. You have to pull your skin tight to get that stroke. You want to go with the grain, then if you want to get it a little closer, you want to go across the grain. Take it slow and easy.

"Follow it up with a good moisturizer.

Since its your first shave, you should be going along the direction your hair grows. This will prevent any rashes or bumps. For instance, if the hair on your cheek grow downwards, move your razor down too for a smooth shave.

After sometime you can decide whether you want to shave against the growth for a cleaner look, but in the start you should stick with the growth direction.

Shaving is not just about cleaning up your face but you should also form a habit of cleaning up the sink after you are done. Don't leave it behind for your mom or someone else, do it yourself. Rinse your razor, remove hair from it, remove hair from the sink and then put things back in order for your next shave.

Splashing your face with warm water, or better yet, having a warm bath before shaving is a good idea because it hydrates and softens your skin and hair. You will be less likely to cut yourself or have any trouble as you shave.
