Heart-Healthy Holidays Healthy Christmas Gift Basket

The perfect holiday gift for those on a heart-healthy diet or for those concerned about heart health. Just because they can't eat all those fat-laden holiday treats doesn't mean they can't enjoy delicious, gourmet goodies! Our Heart-Healthy Holidays basket was designed with heart health in mind. We've considered the many facets of heart health and included a variety of foods with the vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals necessary to address each one. Magnesium protects against heart disease and is also important for regulation of heart rhythm and blood clotting. In light of this evidence, we've included magnesium-rich dark chocolate (yes, chocolate--it's also a good potassium and flavonoid source). Vitamin E, found in nuts, is associated with a reduced risk of coronary artery disease. It appears to protect the cholesterol in our blood from oxidative damage that contributes to heart disease. Curb mid-morning or mid-afternoon cravings with flavonoid-rich blueberries. Flavonoid-rich foods lower the risk of cardiovascular disease by quenching harmful free radicals that contribute to atherosclerosis. Cherries also make a great snack and are a wonderful source of pectin, a soluble fiber that helps control blood cholesterol levels. To reap the benefits of these delicious, juicy fruits, we've included Cherry De-Lites dried cherries. Since fiber is such an important part of a heart healthy diet, we've included some delicious whole wheat pasta to toss with crunchy garlic. Finally, no heart-healthy diet would be complete without the Omega-3 Fatty Acids found in salmon. Contents of the Heart-Healthy Holidays Basket:

The perfect holiday gift for heart patients or for those with heart-health concerns such as high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol.
