How to Extract the laser diodes from a DVD burner computer drive

Need a laser? There's a perfectly good one embedded in your defunct DVD burner, so instead of tossing it away, disassemble it and perform a little electronics surgery to extract the laser diode. This video will show you how it's done, using a Philips 16X DVD burner to find the 200mW red laser. To find out which of those laser diodes is the red burning laser, check out this video. * You can NOT use a CD, CD-RW, or DVD-ROM drive. They will NOT work.
