How to make a chef costume for your child | BabyCenter

With a few items found around home, you can outfit your child with a homemade chef’s costume and get him whipping up some imaginary meals in no time. To make the setup seem like the real deal, get out a tablecloth and a vase for tissue-paper flowers. Kids can use play clay and pots and pans to cook up their own creations. They can take your order using a small notepad. Stuffed animals also make friendly customers for your little chef.   You’ll need white cardstock or thin cardboard tape scissors white plastic grocery bag double-sided tape packing tape or staples play clay pots and pans small notebook crayon or marker plates, cutlery, napkins, candles, etc.   To make the chef’s hat 1. Cut a piece of white cardstock or thin cardboard about three inches high and long enough to fit around your child’s head. You may have to tape two shorter pieces together. 2. Next, cut the handles off a white plastic grocery bag. 3. Place double-sided tape along the top edge of the strip of cardstock. Starting at one end, press the edge of the bag onto the tape, as you gently roll your way around the cardstock to seal the bag into the circle. 4. Fasten the two ends of the strip together with packing tape or staples. If you staple the hat, cover the sharp edges with tape.
