Tip - How to tell if the Control Arm is bad too, or just the ball joint

I have a 1997 Ford Expedition 4WD truck that has a LOT of wiggle on the front left tire. I'm assuming that this is caused by a bad ball joint. Is that a safe assumption to make? Assuming that it is,
