Tip - Matching socks to pants: a dispute

I must disagree with your September 2001 column in which you suggested socks can match just about anything (i.e., shirt, tie, shoes). This is completely incorrect. Socks should always match the pants, unless you are wearing khakis. In that case, your socks should match your shoes. This is basic. It is no different from shoes matching your belt. Normally, you are correct, but you were completely wrong this time.
